Day 1 Departure

Mar 24 - Tues Overnight flight to Tel Aviv, Israel. In order to participate in the late afternoon and evening activities on the first day in Tel Aviv, plan your flights to arrive at TLV no later than 2:00 PM Wednesday, Mar 25th. (Remember you lose a day during travel because it is an overnight flight. You will depart North America on Tuesday March 24th to arrive in Israel on Wednesday March 25th. (Some are arriving on an earlier date!)

Day 2
|
Mar 25- Wed Arrive in Tel Aviv, Israel no later than 2:00 PM. Enjoy a late afternoon tour of the Port of Joppa (where Jonah embarked for Tarshish) and a leisurely supper at your hotel. Walk along the beach and get an early night, near where the Apostle Peter had his vision on the housetop of Simon the Tanner by the Sea.

Day 3

Mar 26 Thur On your first full day in the Holy Land, visit Caesarea by the Sea where Gentiles first received the Holy Ghost, and where Paul appeared before King Agrippa and appealed to Caesar. Visit an ancient Roman aqueduct that carried fresh water from Mt. Carmel to Caesarea. Drive up to Mt. Carmel where Elijah faced off with the prophets of Baal, and God answered by fire! From Carmel see the panoramic view of the Valley of Armageddon. Walk through Tel Megiddo where 26 different levels of occupation were built. Ancient Water Tunnel. Visit the museum to see the “Jesus Boat”, a 2000-year-old fishing boat found in the mud near the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Embark on a boat to sail on the Sea of Galilee. Arrive at Tiberius on the Sea of Galilee. The Sea of Galilee!

Day 4

Mar 27 - Fri This morning we visit the ruins of ancient Capernaum for morning devotions. Capernaum where Jesus did much of his ministry. We drive to the 1st Century village of Chorazin where Jesus and His disciples visited and the scene of miracles. We visit Hazor, which was destroyed by Joshua but later became a Canaanite capital ruled by King Jabin. Visit Tel Dan, to see the remains of the Israelite capital dating from the time of Ahab and the newly discovered gates of the city. where one of the golden calves was erected to draw worshippers away from Jerusalem. See the Abraham Gate. Visit Banais /Caesarea Philippi and “the Gates of Hell.” Golan Heights so near Mt. Hermon that it seems you could reach out and touch it.

Day 5

Mar 28 - Sat Visit Gideon Springs where Gideon’s army was reduced to 300 men. Jordan Valley Drive. Bet She’an, where the bodies of Saul and his sons were hung on the wall following the battle of Mt. Gilboa. Lunch in Jericho. Then we continue to the traditional Baptismal Site Qasr al-Yahud. See the Jericho Road and St. George Monastery on the drive Up-to-Jerusalem. See Jerusalem from a viewpoint on Mt. Scopus. Drive around the Old City walls on the way to our hotel.

Day 6

Mar 29 - Sun Travel from to Jerusalem and descent to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth at 1,300 feet below sea level. Fortress of Masada built by Herod the Great, Walk through this pathos filled place where nearly a thousand Jewish Zealots took their own lives rather than surrender to the Roman army. See the remains of Herod’s Masada Palace. See the remaining stone walls of Roman encampments surrounding Masada, and the siege ramp built by them to gain access. Visit En Gedi, Where David hid from King Saul. Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Enjoy lunch at Qumran. Climb up to Cave 11 if you are adventurous! Drive up to Jerusalem and visit the Gallicantu where Peter denied Jesus at the house of Caiaphas the High Priest. Visit the traditional site of the Upper Room on Mt. Zion.
Overnight in Jerusalem at the Inbal Hotel. Mar 30 - Mon Visit the Garden Tomb and have communion. Drive through the Valley of Elah. Visit Azekah, where the Philistines and Goliath were camped. Head south towards Beersheba, here we visit Tel Beersheba. This will most likely be a shorter day. It would be a good day to shop in the Old City or on Ben Yehuda Street after the day's events.

Day 8

Mar 31 - Tue See majestic and historic "Old Jerusalem" from your vantage point on the Mount of Olives. Pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. Visit the excavations at the City of David. Descend Warren's Shaft exit at the Pool of Siloam.
See the first century road. Have lunch then head to Shiloh. Back in Jerusalem, drive by the New City of Jerusalem, past the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament building, and if time permits visit Shrine of the Book which houses the original Dead Sea Scrolls. View the scale model of Jerusalem in the first century. Overnight in Jerusalem at the Inbal Hotel. |
Day 9

Apr 1 - Wed Today we visit the Davidson Center at the entrance to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park, one of the largest and most significant archaeological sites in the country. Nearby are the “Southern Steps" leading to the original main entrance to the Temple Mount in Jesus’ day. This is one of the few places one can be sure they walk along the same pavement stones and steps that Jesus walked. See the Western Wall. We have a tour of the Western Wall Tunnel at the base of the Temple Mount. Just to the north we find the Pools of Bethesda and St. Anne’s Church, a perfectly preserved Crusader period church with remarkable acoustics.

Return |
Apr 2 - Thu Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and depart Jerusalem, travelling along the Emmaus Road to the Tel Aviv Airport. Say goodbye to your guide and enjoy a safe flight home, changed by your educational and inspirational journey in the Holy Land. Note: We highly recommend that you book your flight departure for noon or later on the 2nd. Depending on the traffic, the ride to the airport can be 45 - 60 minutes. Because of 2 pre-flight security checks it is recommended that you arrive at the airport 3 hours before flight departs. It is nice to be able to have your last breakfast buffet before departing for the airport.
